Comment on What can we learn from virtual communities? by Martina Wengenmeir http://canterbury2014.thatcamp.org/2014/08/27/what-can-we-learn-from-vitual-communities/#comment-568 Sun, 31 Aug 2014 04:45:01 +0000 http://canterbury2014.thatcamp.org/?p=181#comment-568 Same here, really looking forward to this session, as I was about to propose a similar one.
The angle I find quite intriguing is to look at communities in a very open sense and potentially across different online platforms. Broad/big data vs deep/rich data approaches and their individual limitations seem like interesting points to start a methodological discussion from.

Comment on What can we learn from virtual communities? by Matt Plummer http://canterbury2014.thatcamp.org/2014/08/27/what-can-we-learn-from-vitual-communities/#comment-532 Fri, 29 Aug 2014 00:28:10 +0000 http://canterbury2014.thatcamp.org/?p=181#comment-532 I was thinking of proposing a similar session which might be able to tie into this one. My question is how best to develop and get ‘buy in’ to virtual communities, particularly for inter-disciplinary or inter-institutional research projects, or cMoocs for that matter?

Comment on Session Proposal: Curatorial Conundrums, Cataloging Bespoke Software by Joanna Szczepanski http://canterbury2014.thatcamp.org/2014/07/28/session-proposal-curatorial-conundrums-cataloging-bespoke-software/#comment-57 Sat, 09 Aug 2014 04:15:19 +0000 http://canterbury2014.thatcamp.org/?p=159#comment-57 Thank you for the link James. Matthew Kirschenbaum raises a good point about the desire to preserve content and whether that is enough. I also like the point about software as craft, as the bespoke software for the gallery interactive definitely falls under that definition. If you have any other useful links please let me know. Compiling a literature review for future publication is proving tricky. Thanks!
